In my Digital Photography class, we were given the chance to broaden our experiences in the various areas and themes of the photography world. We learned about the fundamental elements and techniques of photography and visual literacy.
Here are the techniques we used in order to produce and refine digital photographic images:
- Manual SLR Camera Operation
- Adobe Photoshop Skills
- Studio Lighting
- Color Calibration
- Digital Printing
BRACKETING PHOTO SHOOT
The Bracketing Photo Shoot was designed in order to help students better understand the cameras functions. Bracketing is simply taking the same photo (time, place, object, theme) with different camera settings.
We bracketed for exposure, depth of field, motion, focal length, and focal plan.

LIGHTING PHOTO SHOOT
The Lighting Photo Shoot was designed for students to learn about the three main lighting elements for photography: quantity, quality, and direction.
- Quantity refers to the exposure (f-stop and shutter speed)
- Quality refers to how hard (small, far) and soft (big, close) the light is
- Direction refers to where the light is coming from

CONCEPTUAL PHOTO SHOOT
The Conceptual Photo Shoot is where students learned about sound in photos, constructed landscapes, and using rules for conceptual photography.
- Sound in photos refers to the photo visually looks, either loud or quiet
- Constructed Landscape is exploring the boundaries between natural and unnatural by constructing a landscape and combining it with natural elements
- Conceptual photography is more about the idea rather than the technique. It can also be that the technique is integral to the idea
